The historians would have us all believing that the swinging sixty's in the UK was all about mini skirts, men with girls length long hair, the Beatles and a sexual revolution. That may be so, but at exactly the same time, across the other side of the Atlantic a different kind of revolution was in full swing and this particular revolt was going to out last anything that we felt was revolutinary at that time.
Customising of motor vehicles was not only amassing as significant following in the US, but more importantly the followers were in their garages workshops and driveways turning their dreams into reality. Shows were springing up all over the country, providing the perfect venues for more youngsters to be inspired and so the wheel of customising and hot rodding was perpetuated.
'Just Jim' of Rutters Rods has for many years been collecting Hot Rod memorabillia, (as well as ensuring his garage always has a rod in it). One small item from his vast collection is displayed on this page of the website. All of the images below are taken from one pack of photos that Jim was given over 10 years ago. In fact he was given several packs so watch out we may be displaying some more in the future.
The photo's were taken at the LA Roadster Show sometime during the sixty's and cover a multitude of styles, creations and skills. We hope you enjoy them.
